Joshua Owens

Joshua Owens, is a passionate and innovative force in the tech and film industries. He's also deeply committed to supporting equity and diversity in IT spaces and has been a lifelong advocate and activist for social justice in all spaces. Joshua began his career journey at 18 years of age, founding an IT company, which he successfully ran for 15 years. Joshua has since spent nearly a decade connected to the movie world. His foray into movies was sparked by an unexpected encounter with a Japanese flamenco guitarist which resulted in an 8-year stint in cinema. Most notably, Joshua played a pivotal role in developing the groundbreaking technology used in James Cameron's "Avatar" (2009), which led to working on similar innovative technologies in several blockbusters by directors like Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis. Joshua is currently the co-founder of Newb, a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating online toxicity and promoting community healing.
